Poetry

Let the Past Rest

We sat across the table in silence

A decade in compliance

With your phantom demands

What started as a spark of hope

Was hung at the end of the rope

And mutated into a ray of hate

But the decade brought indifference

And now that I am in your circumference

I’m not sure what to feel

So we now sit, brought together by fate

Waiting for a word to say when it’s too late

And never letting the past rest.
