Spurious Correlation

Do you watch

the menagerie of beasts

parade along in formation

coolly in the blue

yonder up above?

Have you seen

the glistening stars

wink at you

when they mistook

the sparkle in your eyes?

Would you believe

that the rain

sometimes waits for you

to open your books

and warm your drink?

That the sun

would shine on you

no matter

what you think?

Shelter from the Wind

The winds of change

shake

rattle

roll

everything caught up in it,

a perpetual hurricane

til the day we die,

a season of wind and

a season of rain

that drowns convention

no matter the intention.

It has changed, all of it,

but I hope

it’s for the better,

changed in the passing of time

and in the maturity

wrought from experience.

I’ll bask in such a change.

Unlike the Rain that Falls

The agency of a raindrop

makes no difference,

it will fall where it

is drawn

so long as it

is drawn

downward.

My soul, like the rain,

could only

fall further

but the grace of God

raised it

in His love,

cleansed it

in His death,

made it alive

in His resurrection.

The agency of a drop of blood

makes little difference,

it will return to the earth

from which it was formed,

the curse in the Garden

still realized.

The blood of the Savior,

painted upon the door posts

of our hearts

passes over judgment,

sinners declared innocent–

despite absolute guilt–

now free in Him.

O Death, where is your sting?

My soul, unlike the rain,

through Him

will not fall

where it may.

For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

You know?

The sky is blue, no cloud in sight,

the stars shine nice and bright at night,

the rain is gone and all is green,

no flake of snow is to be seen

But if the sky should fill with clouds

their darkness over all enshrouds

be it with storms of rain or snow,

a day with you is good, you know?
